Carlisle Reservation is the largest reservation located within the Lorain County Metro Parks. If you enter at the main entrance off of Diagonal Road, there will be a lot of open areas. Far from the city lights, this is an ideal spot to set up camp to watch the meteor shower. The village of LaGrange is a little over 30 miles from downtown Cleveland, but it has a strong country feel to it and seems like it’s worlds away from the big city.

Wolf Creek Park is 93 acres of land located along the Sandusky River. It is home to the Sandusky Valley Amateur Astronomy Club, so you know it has good stargazing. During the summer months, Wolf Creek is a popular spot for camping, hiking and canoeing, but it makes a great place for watching a meteor shower any time of the year. The open land and distance from any urban areas make Wolf Creek one of the best places to watch the Geminid meteor shower.

The Amish people live a very simple life, as most of their homes are free of electricity. Much of Amish Country is made up of farms, which makes sense, since many of the Amish make their living off of the land. Due to all of the open areas and scarcity of electricity, Amish Country has dark, clear skies that are just what you need for watching the Geminid meteor shower.
